MATTHEW EMERY

2018-19 Summer Composer in Residence
The KCC is thrilled to announce Matthew Emery as our 2019 Summer Composer in Residence.

Matthew will work with the KCC over the next two months on a commission for our April 19, 2020 concert, 'Inner Child'.

Matthew's commission will be written for the KCC and the Kingston Youth Choir who will join us alongside other Kingston high school students for a collaborative concert on the themes of childhood, growing up, and the inner child in us all.

Matthew Emery is a Canadian composer who "writes with an honesty which enchants" (Vancouver Sun). His music has been performed in twenty-four countries, and recent performance venues include the Great Wall of China, the White House and the Musikverein. His music has been commissioned and performed by the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, National Youth Choir of Canada, Vancouver Chamber Choir, Elmer Iseler Singers, Orchestra London, and the Bach Music Festival of Canada Orchestra. Matthew studied at the University of British Columbia and the University of Toronto.

This commission is made possible through the Canada Summer Jobs Program.
