MARY LYNN KIMMETT

ALTO
Picture
Music has always played an important role in Mary Lynn’s life.  Born into a family that loved singing, she was surrounded by music from an early age.  Mary Lynn began studying piano at age 7, and was encouraged and inspired by two wonderful teachers, Maude Cochrane and Sheryle Mayhew.  She went on to study privately with Margaret McLellan, former professor at Queen’s University.  It was Margaret, her mentor and friend, who encouraged her to pursue a Bachelor of Music degree, which she completed in 1994.  While studying piano at Queens, Mary Lynn also had the opportunity to develop her vocal skills, and she fell in love with choral singing.  After obtaining her music degree, Mary Lynn went on to complete her Bachelor of Education and is currently an elementary teacher with the Limestone District School Board.

A native of Napanee, Mary Lynn pursued various musical interests, including working as an organist and choir director, teaching private piano and theory lessons and becoming a licensed Kindermusik Educator.  She recently had the opportunity to travel to Europe with the North Lakeshore Chorus, under the direction of Ian Juby, to perform in a series of concerts paying tribute to Canadians who served in WWI.   Mary Lynn has had the honour of performing with the Kingston Chamber Choir for the past 14 years and is excited to return for the 2019-2020 season.
